A West Coast of Demerara man known as “Spanky” on Friday appeared before Magistrate Christel Lambert at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court charged with robbery under arms.
Antello “Spanky” Caesar, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 12, while being armed with a knife, he attacked and robbed Bruce Kellor of one cell phone valued $75,000 and $5000 cash.
The court was informed by the Prosecution that on the day in question, Kellor was standing on the roadway at Uitvlugt, WCD, when he was hit from behind.
The Prosecution said that Kellor fell and the defendant pounced on him, placing the knife to his throat and demanded his valuables.
He was later arrested after a report was made. When ask for an explanation by the Magistrate, the defendant refused to speak. He was remanded to prison and will return to court on September 15.
