Sparta Boss, Broad Street and Tucville were some of the teams that have made it through to the group stages after the first round of elimination in the second Petra Organised Futsal Championships at the National Gymnasium on Monday evening.

Watched by a sizeable crowd, Sparta Boss, who have dominated the Futsal sport over the last years three years on the outside courts have turned their attention to the indoor version and by all means have had a rollicking start to their title endeavors by crushing Globe Yard 6-1 via hat-tricks from Gregory Richardson and Devon Millington.
Richardson was the first to open the scoring when he netted in the 3rd, followed by conversions in the 10th and 16th minute while Millington etched his name on the score sheet 8th, 20th and 23rd minutes; Rolex Smith scored in the 9th for the wounded opposition.
Broad Street Bullies also won by an identical score-line against Channel-9 Warriors, as after Anton Alexander netted in the 2nd minute to put the Warriors ahead and stun the boisterous Broad Street fans.
Their response was led by Keiron Solomon hat-trick (7th, 11th & 24th) and support from Jimmy Gravesande, Rocky Gravesande and Lennox Cort, who netted in the 8th, 10th and 23rd minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, the Tucville and Kitty Weavers encounter gripped the attendance of many as it produced 12 goals, seven of which were scored by Tucville.
A trio of braces off the feet of Dennis Edwards (2nd & 9th), Jermin Junior (5th&15th), Delon Williams (18th & 26th) and Tefon Daly (8th).  For Weavers, Nigel Denny netting in the 9th minute led the charge, while an own goal in the 12th and additional conversions by Daniel Ross (23rd), Tevin Fowler (29th) and Gregory Jones (30th).
Similarly, Agricola Champion Boys edged North Ruimveldt 3-2, as the skillful Domini Garnett helped himself to a double, with goals in the 12th and 20th, followed by Quacey Weeks in the 8th.  For the North Ruimveldt outfit, the experienced Gerlad Gittens netted in just the 1st minute of the match then Andrew Gibson added the other in the 3rd.
North East La Penitence also won by a one-goal margin against Leopold Street as Romario Andrews and Kelvin Moore goals in the 9th and 25th minute respectively proved   to be vital; Orandel Williams had equalized for Leopold Street in the 15th.
In addition, Josiah Charles’s double piloted West Back Road to 2-0 after scoring in the 6th and 22nd minute.
The elimination matches will continue on Thursday at the same venue where Hustlers tackle Tiger Bay from 19:30h followed by West Front Road and Camp Street All-stars from 20:15h.
Albouystown will then lock horns with Campbellville from 21:45h after which Alexander Village and Sophia clash from 21:45h. Defending champions Bent Street will the take to the field against Stevedore Scheme from 22:30h followed by Back Circle and Showstoppers from 23:15h.
When the group stages begin, the top two finishers and the two best third ranked teams from the respective groups, will progress to the quarterfinal phase.
The winner of the tournament is set to pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy; while the second, third and fourth-placed finishers will collect $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
The event is slated to conclude on April 15th.
