On Thursday’s opening night of the Georgetown zone of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets, early favourites Sparta Boss faced a stern test while Future Stars were dominant on the Cultural Center Tarmac.
Sparta Boss needed a late “Guinness Goal” to beat Ol Skool Ballers. The “Guinness Goal” is a new rule implemented by the organisers, if a team scores in the final three minutes it is counted as two goals.

Ol Skool Ballers were defensively sound for most of the game and posed a threat to Sparta offensively. They were rewarded for their persistence in the 14th minute through an Omari James goal, however Sparta rallied in the final moments of the game for Eusi Phillips to net a Guinness Goal which meant that Sparta won 2-1.
Established favourites Future Stars breezed past East Front Road winning 6-1. Akeemo Anthony netted a brace scoring in the first and eight minutes while Jamal Cozier and Rafael Edwards added two more in the 13th and 17th minutes respectively. Kevin Griffith scored in the 20th minute which meant he was awarded a Guinness Goal which took Future Stars tally to 6, grabbing a consolation for East Front road was Kenroy Demonick in the 11th minute.
Earlier in the night GTI Ballers beat Bad-A-Yard 4-0 while Broad Street needled Stabroek Ballers courtesy of a Daniel Favourite goal in the 9th minute.
Kingston disposed of North East La Penitence 2-0 and Gold is Money held off Smyth Street for a 1-0 victory with Jamal Pedro netting in the 14th minute.
A Travis Grant double and a goal from Eon Alleyne ensured North Ruimveldt had a comfortable 3-0 win over Judgement Yard.
Bent Street got off on a winning note against Norton Street with a 2-0 win while Sophia Bullies also bullied their way to a 2-0 win over Tucville.
Channel-9 Warriors defeated Gaza Squad 2-0 while Upsetters needed penalty kicks to beat Alexander Village
New Market Street disposed of Festival City 2-0 while California Square had a dominant 4-0 win over Tiger Bay.
