Speeding Essequibo motorcyclist dies after crashing into motorcar

A two-vehicle smash-up along the New Road Public Road, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has left a motorcyclist dead on Sunday.
The deceased man, 21- year -old Stephen Seenauth of Charity Squatting Area, Essequibo Coast, was at the time driving an unregistered motorcycle when it collided with a motorcar, HD 943, which was at the time being driven by a 43-year-old resident of Better Hope Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Based on reports received, the motorcar was proceeding along the New Road Public Road at about 7:45 am, and upon approaching a turn, the motorcycle, which was speeding, overtook another motorcar and ended up in the path of HD 943.
The driver of the motorcar reportedly swerved to avoid a collision, but despite his efforts, the motorcycle collided with the left front side of his vehicle. Seenauth reportedly fell off the motorcycle and landed on the road surface. He was then picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the motorcar involved in the accident was arrested. A breathalyser test administered on the driver showed that he was below the limit of alcohol consumption, with a reading of 13 micrograms. The driver remains in custody as the police have indicated their interest in instituting charges against him.
