Spinning…

…like a top
As your Eyewitness predicted yesterday, the spinning of the news of Sanction Man – caught with his pants down in front of one of the main witnesses to his extradition hearing – has hit top gear!! But how many times can the fella think he can bamboozle Guyanese by claiming he’s the victim and not the perpetrator of the outrage committed?? There’s only so many times you can take your doody and smear it on another fella’s bamsie and claim, “He done it!!”
This time the evidence is so damning against him that even some of his most fervent supporters – and anti-Government critics – have advised him that he’s gone too far this time!! The fundamental fact that can’t be washed away by even his most skilful shills is that Sanction Man’s admitted he slowly drove past the home – not on any major thoroughfare – of a witness against him at his trial, not once – but twice at midnight!! A witness who’d testified under oath that he was afraid for his life by Sanction Man, whom he’d fingered as having been involved in several crimes where witnesses had been “disappeared”!!
And this was no ordinary witness spewing figments of his imagination but the head of Guyana’s Special Branch – our “spy” unit – Senior Superintendent Prem Narine!! And what was Sanction Man doing there, pray tell? “Surveilling” the man’s house in a darkened car to show that the State was wasting resources to deploy a protective unit to keep the man safe!! No amount of spinning can wash away this smoking gun – pardon the expression, since a gun and spent shells were later found in the car! – that at a minimum, he was stalking witness Narine!!
Is Sanction Man for real?? He’s become Leader of the Opposition – the holder of a constitutional office – and he’s acting like a cheap private detective, stalking an erring husband at the behest of a spurned wife?? Some folks thought he couldn’t get more sleazy than when he was caught in flagrante with those Brazilian Bimbos in his boat a while ago – but he’s done it now!! And unfortunately for him, this time it’s gone past the snickering stage!!
On his second snooping pass in his darkened car, an alerted Supt Narine heard a shot and fired back three times with his service revolver – hitting the car which was apprehended by the Police a short distance away. And there the cops found the smoking gun – a .32 to go with the shell that was found across from Narine’s home!!
This is serious business – folks, including Narine and Sanction Man, coulda been killed!! This matter demands a thorough investigation, and the law must be allowed to take its course!!

…old tales
The passing of Eusi Kwayana at the age of 101 reminds your Eyewitness that the longer we live, the challenge of leaving a good name gets harder and harder. Didn’t the Bard complain that “the evil that men do lives after them and the good is oft interred with their bones”? So how did Kwayana do on this scale?? Whether good or bad, he is quite famous for uttering a phrase that has passed into our national lexicon – “This confounded nonsense must stop!!” He was addressing the Brits who had just suspended our constitution ‘cause Churchill felt that Jagan’s PPP Government was Commie!!
Another of his doing was to introduce the notion of “partition” into our political vocabulary back in the 1960s – if the sparring groups could not agree on the political arrangements to live together!! That suggestion has floated to the top ever so often as the rivalry gets accentuated by political entrepreneurs!! Thankfully, under Pressie’s inclusive vision, that one should now be retired!!
More to come…

…Bullying in schools
The death by suicide of a young student at one of our premier schools – after she was reportedly bullied – cannot be allowed to pass. The Ministry should investigate this and ensure consequences for the school and its bullies follow!!
