St Angela’s overcome North Georgetown to reach semi-finals
Courts Pee Wee Schools Football Championship…
Defending Champions St. Angela’s have edged their way into the semi-finals of the fifth annual Courts Pee-Wee football Championships when they overcame a physical North Georgetown on Saturday at the Banks DIH Thirst Park Ground.
On day where 21 goals were scored, the defending champions won 1-0 via a spectacular Antwoine Vincent goal in the 13th minute. Among the other teams progressing to the next round were St. Pius, West Ruimveldt and St. Agnes.
St. Agnes progress came as a result of defeating 2012 champions Marian Academy 2-0. Justin Alexander opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a penalty kick and two minutes onward as David Xavier scored.
Similarly, West Ruimveldt downed F.E. Pollard 2-0. Kevin Mentis and Kenneth Gordon scored in the 35th and 38th minute correspondingly.
Also, St. Pius squeaked past St. Stephens’s 2-1. Dwayne Baptiste and Keron Adams scored in the seventh and 40th minute for the winner while Jequan Cole netted for the loser in the 10th minute. As such, the semi-final matches will see St. Angela’s opposing 2013 winners St. Pius while West Ruimveldt will tackle St. Agnes
Meanwhile in the 9-16 position matches, Tucville Primary hammered Redeemer 4-0. John Harry scored twice in the second and 11th while Jamal Embrack and Ronaldo Gomes in the 19th and 28th minute respectively while St. Margaret’s inflicted the same treatment upon Mae’s 4-0 compliments of a Mickelle Andrews helmet-trick in the 17th, 24th, 26th and 28th minute.
Winfer Gardens edged South Ruimveldt 1-0. Orlando Dickie found the back of the net in the 39th minute while Stella Maris edged St. Gabriel’s 5-4 on penalty kicks.
John Hynes bagged a brace in the 16th and 25th minute for Stella Maris while Tyrese Hart netted in the eighth and 24th minute for the opposition.
The penultimate day of the competition will continue at the same venue from 11:00 hrs this Saturday.
