Westminster Secondary, St Joseph’s High, New Central High, Annandale Secondary and Hope Secondary were amongst the winners on Tuesday when the Schoolboys’ division of the third President’s Futsal Championships, coordinated by the Kashif and Shanghai organisation, continued.
Westminster Secondary were the first to taste victory, edging Carmel Secondary 2-1. Goals off the boots of Keandre Carr and Nickille Watson in the 11th and 15th minutes, respectively, gave West Minster a 2-0 lead. Carmel’s Earl Lawrence managed to pull one back in the 19th, but a comeback was not to be for the Sussex Street outfit.

St Joseph’s High whipped Charlestown Secondary 4-1 in the following fixture. Charlestown took the lead first through a Nicholas Nienelder two-strike in the second minute, but their celebrations were short-lived, as one minute later, Samech Starke levelled the scores for St Joseph’s.
Laurel George put St Joseph’s ahead in the fifth, while Joel Stephens further extended their lead in the eighth. By the 19th minute, Akel Sahadeo sealed the win with their fourth strike.
Trevor Gordon (fifth) and Peter Khan (21st) later found the back of the net once each to secure a comfortable 2-0 victory for New Central High against VYC Academy.
A nail-biting encounter resulted in a narrow victory for Annandale Secondary, taking on fellow East Coast outfit Cummings Lodge Secondary. Quason Price opened the scoring for Cummings Lodge in the seventh, followed by a goal off the boots for Timothy Dowding in the 14th for their 2-0 lead. However, it was then that Annadale staged their comeback, initiated by Joash Thomas’ 16th-minute strike. Devon Williams (20th) and Uzziah Collins (21st) later pierced the nets to complete the come-from-behind win.
An own goal from Lodge Secondary later cost them the chance of sharing points, instead suffering a 3-1 loss to Hope Secondary. Quashaun Campbell was the first to add his name to the scoresheet in the seventh. It was only in the 19th that another goal was witnessed as Yohance King extended Hope’s lead. On the other hand, Elijah Scott netted Lodge Secondary’s consolation in the 23rd, but an own goal from the Georgetown outfit crushed any thought of a comeback.
In other results, West Demerara Secondary benefited from a walkover when they were scheduled to face the Bishops’ High School.
