The 11th edition of the Janet and Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket Championship, organised by the National Sports Commission (NSC), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS), recently continued at the National Gymnasium in Georgetown.
Girls’ Division
In a highly anticipated matchup that lived up to expectations, St Rose’s High School won the toss and elected to bat on a night filled with strong support from parents and vocal supporters.

St Rose’s posted 63–2 from their allotted overs, with Tanuja Singh finishing unbeaten on 25. Bowling for St Stanislaus College, Natalya Stoll returned figures of 1–4, while Kishana Thorn claimed 1–6.
In reply, Saints chased down the target in just 4.4 overs. Deondra Benjamin led the charge with an unbeaten 30, while Evangelina Singh contributed 22 not out. Darshini Lallbeharry was caught for 10. Reya Sookraj picked up 1–10 for St Rose’s.
Gratitude was extended to the parents, students, and school officials, including ASTP representatives Francina Green and Clavon Monchoir, and most importantly to the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for once again providing the opportunity for Guyanese youth to showcase their skills.
Boys’ Cheddi Jagan Division
Meanwhile, in the Cheddi Jagan Boys’ Division, a new champion will be crowned after defending champions St Rose’s High School failed to reach the finals.
St Rose’s won the toss and invited Brickdam Secondary to take first strike. Brickdam responded strongly, posting 89–2, led by Garren Newton with 48 and Prosper Jacobus with 26. Jorryn Payne was the pick of the bowlers for St Rose’s, taking 2–10.
In reply, St Rose’s were restricted to 32–1, with Zeeshawn Mahdeo scoring 18 and Derick Hing finishing unbeaten on 12.
Brickdam Secondary will now await the outcome of the match between Houston Secondary and St Stanislaus College, which was under protest.
