Nand Persaud Sprint Classic…

As the rainy season subsides, the highly anticipated horse racing meet, the Nand Persaud Sprint Classic, has begun attracting a number of sponsors.
The event is set for Sunday, August 11, at the company’s racing facility at Macedonia Estate, Number 36 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Thus far, the meet has seen beverage giant ANSA McAL Group of Companies coming on board through the Stag Beer Brand. The Trophy Stall is also on board, as are the following business interests of the Nand Persaud Group of Companies: Nand Persaud and Company Limited, NPG Packaging and Plastics Inc., Sky Plus, NPIC Communications, Nand Persaud Green Power Solutions, Flexotech Inc., Nand Persaud Foundation Inc., Amazonia Rice Incorporated, and Plastic Incorporated.
There is as much as four million dollars in cash and prizes up for grabs in the meet.
The feature event will be for horses classified E and Lower, and will be competed for a winning purse of $300,000. The 2-year-old horses will compete for a winner’s prize of $150,000, while the J and Lower race will have a take-home prize of $150,000.
The event for K and Lower horses will enable the winner to take home $140,000, while the L Class races for stallions and mares respectively will each carry a winning prize of $100,000.
The other L Class event will see non-earners from the other two L Class races competing for a winner’s prize of $100,000.
All prizes are inclusive of trophies.
The champion jockey, trainer and stable will all be rewarded with trophies and other incentives, compliments of Trophy Stall.
