As the day draws closer to the first ever Repos Market Vendors Development Committee (MRMVDC) One-Day Softball Cricket extravaganza, the stars of yester-year have signaled their intentions of rolling back the years when they confirmed their participation for the Georgetown versus East Coast of Demerara Over-50 match this Saturday February 18.
The highly anticipated 20 overs a-side game will be the curtain raiser for the cricket aspect of the Mon Repos market fund raising event which is dubbed a grand bar-b-que and family fun day at the Lusignan Community Centre ground. The softball cricket stalwarts will take to the crease from 14:00h which will be followed by the masters’ and male and female open tournaments that will end under the floodlights.
When many of the softball stars were in the prime of their cricket careers, they converged at the Lusignan Community Centre ground and will do so once again for organized cricket that will see each player getting special medals for participation and trophies for outstanding individual performances. The organisers have already secured all of the trophies for each category compliments of the kind sponsors.
So far, 10 masters teams have indicated their willingness to participate in the 10 overs a-side competition that has an entrance fee of $20,000 per team which entitles each team to 15 bar-b-que.

The Georgetown Over 50 team will come from; Ricky Deonarain, Ryan Singh, Ramesh Sunich, Laurie Singh, Richard Persaud, Mahendra Hardyal, Wayne Jones, Lakeram Singh, Divekanand Ramsaywack, Ramchand Ragbeer, Imtiaz Mohammed, Colin Greaves, Daram Persaud, Peter Persaud, Danny Mohanram, Lnace Adams and Ramjit Singh (Manager)
East Coast Demerara Over 50 team reads; Eion Abel, David Harper, Vinod Lall, Walack Joseph, Kennard Luke, Hakeem Majid, Satro Seeraj, Lakeram Barleow, Raymond Karim, Vijay Baljit, Jaggarnauth Singh, Ishwer Parsram, R. Ramchand, Hemanchal Mangra, Jailall Deodatt, Sheik Mohamed and Ramesh Parsram (Manager/Player).
The 10 masters’ teams taht have confirmed their participation are H.S. Masters, Fishermen’s Masters, Tropical Springs, Success Masters, Enterprise Legends, Ariel Masters, Savage Masters, Regal Masters, Airyhall Masters and Mike’s Wellman.
