Sterling Products’ inaugural Golf Tourney on today
In a simple ceremony held at the company’s headquarters at Providence, EBD, Ramsey Ali, CEO of Sterling Products Ltd, handed over to Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) Treasurer Aasrodeen Shaw a sponsorship cheque to cover staging of the inaugural Sterling Products Golf Tournament, which tees off today.
Witnessing the proceedings were Sterling Products’ Merchandising & Promotions Supervisor Dellon Lynch and the LGC PRO Guy Griffith.
Expressing delight at Sterling Products’ involvement with the LGC, Ali noted that although this is Sterling’s first tournament, plans are in the making for the company to be involved in more tournaments during this year.
Sterling Products’ involvement with the LGC was initiated by LGC Member Ramesh Dookhoo, and was followed up to fruition by LGC President Aleem Hussain.
Ali noted that Sterling Products is pleased that the LGC has been taking steps to involve schools in golfing, and he committed Sterling Products to continued support of the LGC.
Located at Public Road, Providence, East Bank Demerara, Sterling Products Limited has been a household name in Guyana since the inception of its operations. This company was incorporated as a public limited liability company on October 15, 1954, and commenced operations with the production of margarine, lard, ghee and soap.
Sterling began exporting Golden Cream margarine to Dominica in November 1957. It began producing detergent in 1967 and butter (Golden Dairy butter) in 1969, and is currently launching a new brand of ice-cream products at this time: Igloo Premium ice-creams.
