In the East Coast Cricket Committee (ECCC)/Bargain Supermarket T20 tournament powered by Carib Beer, two matches in the semifinal clash of the day were set to light up the stage:- Enterprise were set to clash with Lusignan and Strathavon were set to battle it out with Enmore for a spot in the final.
In the first matchup of the day, Enterprise outclassed Lusignan through a commanding all-round performance from Guyana’s national player Rajendra Chandrika, to storm into the finals. Winning the toss, Enterprise elected to bat first, amassing 119-8 at the end of their allotted 20 overs, with Chandrika scoring a well-played 56.
The most successful bowler for Lusignan was Emran Khan, who bagged 3-18.
Lusignan required a run-a-ball for victory in their innings, but crumbled to 85 all out, as Enterprise proved able and capable enough to thwart Lusignan’s enterprise.
Askhaya Persaud top scored with 39; while Vivian Albert, who took 3-11, and Chandrika, who bagged 2-15, returned to do damage with the ball.
In the second semi, Strathavon were faced with the uphill task of battling Enmore in a low-scoring thriller, which saw the former coming out victorious.
Batting first, Strathavon were limited to 97-7, with Z Salim contributing 19, while Enmore’s Rudolph Singh bagged 2-14 and Chris Surat 2-13.
In reply, Enmore were skittled out for 82, with Ameer Khan (19) being the only batsman to offer resistance, while G Hemraj claimed 3-11.
Strathavon will now face Enterprise in the final, while the third place showdown will see Enmore and Lusignan battle for supremacy.
