Dear Editor,

Last Wednesday, Brazil’s senate voted to remove its first female President, Dilma Rousseff, from office; the culmination of a yearlong struggle that paralyses Latin America’s largest nation and exposed deep rifts among its people on everything from race relations to social spending.

A lesson Guyanese can learn from this bold act is that anyone can be removed from office if he/she is accused and found guilty of being corrupt while in public office.

It doesn’t matter who she or he is! At least they did it using the democratic method in Brazil!

Yours faithfully,
