STSC completes under-14 small goal competition

…domino competition on Sunday, small goal action first week in April

The South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) hosted an under-14, 3-a-side small goal football competition on March 21st at the C Field second block in Sophia. The action saw Team Tyrone Isaacs defeating Team Teon McKenzie 3-1 in the grand finale.

Tyrone Isaacs registered two goals, while Antroa Osborne chipped in with one for the winning team, while Jaquan Osborne was the lone scorer for the losing side.
In the senior segment of the competition Sceon McKenzie defeated John Blair in a penalty shootout, the sudden death goal scorer being Carl King. Meanwhile, Jamale Bovelle was adjudged the MVP. Trophies and medals were donated by Otto and Johnny Barnwell.
This Sunday, the South Turkeyen Sports Committee will be hosting a domino competition in honour of the late Gordon Primo. Action will be at Sharon Primo’s Hideout located in C Field Sophia. The action will start at 13:00 hrs, and entrance fee is $1000. The trophy is being donated by Sharon Primo and family.
After the domino competition, the committee will proceed to host another small goal football tournament in honour of Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell, who will be celebrating his 76th birthday. The action will be held on April 2-3, 2022 at the Vryheid’s Lust playfield, and will commence at 11hrs on Saturday and 14hrs on Sunday.
Among the teams registered to participate are Vryheid’s Lust, Sophia, Better Hope, Plaisance, Buxton, North East, and Sparta Boss.
The trophies, medals and cash prizes are being donated by Ken Phillips of Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs; Deputy Mayor Alfred Mentore; Kerwin Perry, Operations Manager of Express GOC; PNP Insurance, and other entities.
