Student slapped with forgery charges

A 20-year-old student of Chase Academy was granted bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with forgery.

Deoharry Odit pleaded not guilty to two charges of forgery.The first charge stated that on September 20, 2016, in Georgetown, he conspired with other persons and forged a Republic Bank cheque for $800,000, property of Naipaul Ramodar.

Additionally, the second charge stated that on September 27, 2016, in Georgetown, he again forged a Republic Bank cheque valued $1.2 million; also property of Naipaul Ramodar.

In court on Wednesday, Odit was released on $50,000 bail. The case will continue on November 14.
