Student stabbed with scissors during robbery at Annandale
A 16-year-old student of Annandale Secondary School was on Wednesday attacked, stabbed and robbed by five armed men at Annandale, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The perpetrators were armed with scissors, Police said.
Based on reports received, the teen reportedly put up a resistance when he was stabbed about his body. The bandits, however, escaped with one laptop, a cellular phone, a music box, and a backpack belonging to the teen.
The young man was reportedly rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted and underwent emergency surgery. His condition is regarded as stable.
Less than two weeks ago, a 16-year-old school girl attached to the Institute of Business Education (IBE) and of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was robbed on her way to school. The robbery reportedly took place at Coldingen, ECD.
The victim, who was in the company of friends, was standing at the Coldingen Railway Embankment Road when she was confronted by two men on a bicycle. One of the men was reportedly armed with a handgun.
However, the men reportedly stopped in front of the teenager and demanded that she hand over her money and valuables. She was eventually robbed of a Samsung A10 cellular phone valued at $45,000. Investigations are continuing.
