Suddie Hospital to get state-of-the-art TB building

Tuberculosis and Family Voluntary Counselling and Testing (FVC) services at the Suddie Public Hospital will receive a significant boost in the not-too-distant future, with the award of a multimillion-dollar contract for the construction of conducive areas to treat TB patients.

During the symbolic signing of the contract, Regional Executive Officer Devanand Ramdatt related that the project was awarded through the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) which will be overlooked by the regional administration. Approval of the project was granted by Cabinet.
However, the contract was awarded to Manboadram Sukhai to the tune of $27,941,850. The construction is expected to commence within seven days.
Speaking with key stakeholders, the Regional Chairperson, Vilma De Silva, called on the contractor to ensure that he delivers quality works while adding that she is grateful for proper healthcare services in the region that will provide efficient services to the people in the region.
Meanwhile, the Regional Health Officer, Dr Ranjeev Singh, explained that the construction of the TB building will significantly boost health services in Region Two and as such will provide a conducive environment for TB patients because the virus spreads faster through coughing and sneezing.
He stated that the building will assist in reducing the risks of staff members and also make the working environment more conducive.
