Home Sports Suriname hands Guyana a forgetable futsal baptism
Futsal kicked-off for the first time in the 49 year-old Inter Guiana Games (IGG) but it was by no means a merry beginning for Guyana as they were hammered 11-1 by Suriname on Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Guyana’s misery was inflicted by Nazario Doesburg who netted a helmet-trick (24th, 25th, 37th and 39th), a double by Terence Areoman (17th,18th) and supporting goals by Vabrisio Woerd (27th) , Gleton Alphons (31st), Stefano Mac-Donald (18th) , Denilson, Joekoe (34th) and Gilaume Strooker (36th) while Douquan Wilson was the lone soccer Guyana in the 7th minute.
Wilson gave Guyana the lead when he dribbled his way past the defender, slipping the ball pass keeper to his right to spark a jubilant celebration by the management but that was only joy the team got for the entire night, as Areoman equalized with a powerful shot that beat a diving Bobby David.
The fouls were mounting on Guyana and the surrender two quick penalties which allowed the Suriname to come from behind and end the second half 3-1.
The second half was simply a goal rush by the visitors, who clearly had a better understanding of the Futsal game, ripping the Guyanese to shreds with their superior offensive display and organised defending.
The two teams will meet twice today, first from 9:00 hours and then at 13:00h.
