The two Heads of State are expected to discuss areas of mutual interest in an effort to deepen relations between the two countries. At their last meeting, held in Nieuw Nickerie, Suriname, on July 1 earlier this year, the Heads of State had agreed to have a meeting to follow-up on their discussions.
The visiting delegation will include: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Niermala Badrising; Minister of Justice and Police, Jennifer Van Dijk-Silos; and Advisor of State to the President of Suriname Harvey Naarendorp. They will be joined by Suriname’s Ambassador to Guyana, Mehroen N Kurban-Baboe.
President Bouterse and his team are scheduled to arrive at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, where a Guard of Honour will be mounted by the Guyana Defence Force.
This will be President Bouterse’s second visit to Guyana for the year, having been here in July when Guyana co-hosted the 37th Meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government.
