Suspect cleared of Laing Avenue execution charged for armed robbery

Just over two weeks after he was cleared of the Laing Avenue murder of Orin David, Negus Lamaizon once again found himself before the courts and was remanded to prison by the Chief Magistrate for four counts of armed robbery.
Lamaizon and Kurt Taylor were jointly charged with robbing four persons at gunpoint when they crashed a farewell party on Regent Road, Georgetown, on April 10, 2017
The particulars of the charge stipulate that the two men, in the company of others while armed with a gun, robbed Virtual Complainant (VC) Adidre Liverpool of gold jewellery valued $220,000 and relieved Robin Tibruce of a cellular phone and jewellery, valued $349,000.
Two other VCs, Lester Andrews and Quacy Waldron were robbed respectively of one Samsung smartphone valued $160,000 and of one Blu cellphone valued $30,000, on the same day at the said location.
The bail application made by defence counsel Adrian Thompson was rejected by the Magistrate after she failed to find special grounds on which to grant same.
Lamaizon and Taylor are expected to return to court on May 8, 2017.
The murder charge against Lamaizon and Samuel McIntyre were dismissed by city Magistrate Dylan Bess on March 30, after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the two in order that they may stand trial at the High Court. This was largely owing to insufficient evidence and the failure of the 13 witnesses to positively identify the accused men as the persons who shot the deceased.
Two other suspects in the shooting are currently undergoing a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) before the courts.
