Suspect in Grove brutal attack arrested

More than a week after beating and chopping two cousins at Grove, East Bank Demerara, the main suspect has been arrested.
Guyana Times has been informed that the man was taken into custody at the Grove Police Station on Wednesday, and is assisting Police with their investigation of the incident.
Two Saturdays ago, the two cousins: 23-year-old Randolph Persaud, known as “Christopher,” of Grove, and Leon Archer of Melanie, East Coast Demerara, were brutally attacked, beaten and chopped by a group of men at a bar.
The attack reportedly stemmed from an old grievance, as the assailant held a grudge against Persaud due to a relationship between one of his friends and the attacker’s ex-girlfriend.
Archer and Persaud had gone to the bar to buy liquor, and while there they encountered the attacker, who suddenly lashed out at Persaud, causing him to fall. When Archer tried to intervene, he was also attacked. Archer had attempted to defend himself, but had been brutally beaten and chopped in the process.
Both men had been rushed to the Diamond Hospital, East Bank Demerara, for medical treatment. Persaud suffered a broken nose and lacerations, while Archer was treated for multiple chop wounds.
It is still unclear whether the other suspects have been arrested. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
