Two bandits, one armed with a gun, posing as customers held up and robbed a 44-year-old National Avenue, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown female confectionery vendor on Saturday.
The incident occurred just around 20:30h while the vendor was plying her trade.
Police say that the victim was vending when the two men rode up on a motorcycle and stopped, pretending to purchase items. The pillion rider came off of the motorcycle and approached the woman while pointing a gun at her.
He demanded that she hand over all of her valuables.
Fearing for her life, the woman handed her cellphone valued at $55,000 along with $15,000 cash after which the suspects made good their escape on the said motorcycle.
Checks were made to locate the suspects but this proved futile.
