Table-toppers Essequibo face Upper Demerara/East Bank at Everest
Having a perfect record in the ongoing Jaguars’ Franchise 3-day League, leaders Essequibo will now face Upper Demerara/East Bank today at the Everest Cricket Club (ECC) when round three actions gets underway. The team from the Cinderella county have two outright wins which place them on 32.5 points, 9.5 points ahead of their closest rival Upper Corentyne.
For Essequibo, much will again be relied on the in-form Ricardo Adams with both bat and ball. The return of Keemo Paul should bolster their chances added with the likes of Kemol Savoury, Kevon Boodie and Anthony Adams.
For Upper Demerara/East Bank, Chandrapaul Hemraj who has the ability to compile big scores and be handy with his left-arm spin will need to fire for a team positioned fifth on the eight–franchise points table.
Over at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara franchise will battle Georgetown. East Coast has had two abandoned matches, which makes this one essential for them to gather momentum. At the top, Brian Sattaur has looked to be in good touch but needs to kick-on from the starts and lay a big score against a competent bowling line up.
Off-spinners Gajanan Suknanan and Ramaal Lewis has been the city side trump cards and along with leg-spinner Steven Sankar, they ask serious questions of the opposition batsmen.
With the bat, Georgetown has looked suspect with only Christopher Barnwell, Robin Bacchus and to a lesser extent young Raymond Perez looking assured at the crease.
Powerhouse West Demerara will host West Berbice at Tuschen, east Bank Essequibo. The hosts will be confident since two of their players Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Tevin Imlach got centuries in their last encounter. While the pacey Romario Shephed will again be a threat.
The Berbice franchise lies at the bottom of the table and even though the magic of Gudakesh Motie has wreak havoc they still find it hard to defeat sides.
The final match will see Lower Corentyne coming up against Upper Corentyne at Albion.
All matches are slated to commence at 09:30 hrs.
