Tahir confident Warriors can cope without Nabi, Gurbaz

The Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) will look to maintain their unbeaten run when they face the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in Match 30 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, today from 19:00h.
The Amazon Warriors enter the contest high on confidence after securing a commanding seven-wicket victory over the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on Sunday, a result that confirmed their place in the play-offs and moved them to the top of the standings with six wins.
Captain Imran Tahir praised his players for their consistency and hard work, while stressing the importance of maintaining their intensity despite their impressive run.
“Really proud of the boys. The way we’ve been playing our cricket, it’s really good and pleasing,” Tahir said during a post-match interview on Sunday evening, “We’re not taking things for granted. We’re playing good cricket and we’re getting the results. We’re putting in a lot of hard work.”

However, the Warriors will soon have to cope with the departures of key players Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, for international duty.
Tahir acknowledged that losing the experienced Nabi will be a challenge, but expressed confidence in the squad’s depth. He revealed that a replacement player from Bangladesh had arrived, whom he believes can make a similar impact.
“Nabi’s done fantastic, so not taking that away,” Tahir shared, “Obviously, we need to give the guy [replacement player] a chance, which is a perfect time for him to come and get adapted to the conditions.”
The Warriors will also rely on experienced campaigners who are familiar with the Providence conditions, including Glenn Phillips, Dwaine Pretorius, and Tahir himself.
“We’re going to miss Gurbaz and Nabi, that’s for sure,” Tahir admitted.
Despite those absences, the Warriors will be favourites against the Falcons, who will be aiming to disrupt their dominant campaign. With their play-off berth already secured, the Warriors will now be focused on strengthening their position at the top of the table and extending their unbeaten streak on home soil.
