Tail… wagging in the Middle East

As your Eyewitness said yesterday, this war in the Middle East against Iran ain’t gonna be over till it’s over!! And with Israeli bombs bursting in air – and, more to the point, landing on Lebanese homes, killing hundreds – the war ain’t even on pause, as President Trump insisted!! So, what’s going on?? Israel – which is supposed to be an appendage to the US (a tail, if you will!!) – as has been the case from the beginning, is doing its own thing! Which means bombing whoever, whenever, or wherever it decides are enemies or enemy territory!! Presently, it’s Lebanon!!
But hadn’t President Trump said that Iran’s TEN-POINT plan was the basis for the two-week truce – to haggle over a more permanent arrangement?? And wasn’t a ceasefire in Lebanon one of the aforementioned TEN POINTS?? OOOPs!! The US – via VP Vance – now says it wasn’t, while Iran and the facilitator Pakistan insist it WAS!! Who to believe?? Well, you just have to look at the timeline!
As soon as the “agreement” was announced, as your Eyewitness pointed out yesterday, Israel unilaterally declared – even though it wasn’t part of the negotiations – that Lebanon was still fair game for its genocidal killing spree!! And then duly made that a fait accompli by unleashing its bombs and killing 254 Lebanese amongst the rubble and craters created!! Now your Eyewitness can’t understand why any of this is of any surprise to anyone!! Wasn’t the war started by Israel bombing Iranian real estate – and the Yanks, which had been massing their forces, HAD to jump in??!!
Point of the matter is that in all the wars in the Middle East, the Israeli tail wags the American dog because it KNOWS that the dog’s handlers will order it to go along!! And those handlers aren’t just the Jewish AIPAC lobbyists who write cheques to all the Washington movers and shakers – but also the Christian Evangelicals whose ideology is now guiding the Trump White House.
And what’s that ideology?? It’s called “Messianism” and is based on a literal belief of Biblical prophecies predicting a coming Armageddon in the HERE AND NOW!! For example, Chapter 38 of the Book of Ezekiel speaks of the conflict between the people of Israel and GOG and MAGOG that includes the Persian nation as a foreshadowing of the coming of the end times!! This is reinforced by the Israeli belief that the time has arrived for the rebuilding of the Second Temple – on the site regarded as sacrosanct by all Muslims – including Iran!!
Your Eyewitness understands that some in the Iranian leadership follow the messianic belief of “Mahdism” – the belief that the twelfth imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi, will arise to establish justice for all.

…or a tale of new indentureship?
Back after the end of slavery and the introduction of indentureship to fill the labour gap occasioned by the newly freed Africans decamping the plantations en masse, there was an influx of Caribbean small islanders – collectively dubbed “Bajans” – flocking our shores!! Believe it or not, our abysmal wages were higher than those in their native islands!!
Well, a few weeks ago, there was a story in this newspaper about three dozen Jamaicans – recruited to fill the cane-cutting labour gap at Rose Hall Canje sugar estate – protesting. Evidently, their pay had been delayed. Management explained their money was paid to their recruiting agency – and this had already been done!!
Well, in stepped APNU’s Chicken Man, who complained this was a “new indentureship” of AFRICAN Jamaicans!! Never one to lose an opportunity to play the race card – as we saw in the Adrianna Young tragedy – he kept on stressing the “AFRICAN” angle!!
Has he condemned the migrant worker programme run by the US – with thousands of AFRICAN Jamaicans participating??
