Oluchi Clarke was remanded to prison on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts after she give a conflicting address during her first court appearance.
The 24-year-old woman of Lot 98 Durban Backlands, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and pleaded not guilty to the charge of breaching the peace.
The charge alleged that on September 9, 2019 at Landon Street, Georgetown, she provoked the peace with Keitesha Barclay.
According to Prosecutor Annalisa Brummel, the defendant insulted and annoyed the Virtual Complainant (VC) by calling her a name other than her name.
The Prosecutor further indicated to the court that the defendant became aggressive and pointed her hands in the VC’s face. However, while the Prosecutor did not object to bail being granted, the Magistrate remanded Clarke after she gave conflicting addresses to the court.
The case will continue on September 25.
