Taxi driver arrested for Church’s Chicken robbery

A taxi driver is now in Police custody after he reported that two men hijacked his car, committed a robbery, and then brought the car back to him.
According to reports, the driver of a taxi service situated at Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, was asked to pick up two passengers at Rosignol.
He claimed that after the pickup, the men then tied him up and dumped him out of the car at Number Two Village, WCB.
Reports are the bandits then stopped a car being driven by an employee of Church’s Chicken, Rosignol and demanded that she handed over a bag she had in the car. The bag reportedly had the company’s day’s sales.
Guyana Times was told that the employee out of fear for her life handed over the bag containing $226,000.
Meanwhile, the driver claimed that the two bandits returned to Number Two Village where they left him, abandoned the car, and then made good their escape. He subsequently reported the matter to the Police and after telling them his story, he was taken into custody.
An investigation has been launched.
