Taxi driver caught throwing gun through car window

A 23-year-old taxi driver has landed himself in hot water after trying to dispose of an illegal firearm with live rounds in the presence of Police officers.
Reports are at about 04:15h on Saturday morning, Police ranks patrolling John and Norton Streets received information that the man, who was inside of a bar at the time, had an unlicensed gun.
Ranks were given a description of the vehicle he had arrived at the establishment in and turned up at that location.
Upon venturing inside, they observed the man exiting the building and entering the motor car which also had another occupant seated at that time.
The policemen followed him with the intention of conducting a search.
When the man realised that the cops were closing in on him, he quickly threw the gun through the window and sped away. The ranks picked up the weapon, which turned out to be a .32 pistol with two live rounds of ammunition. They then pursued the car and cornered the car. The suspect, along with his 28-year-old passenger were both arrested.
The men are assisting with investigations.
