Taxi driver charged for sexual grooming

Taxi driver Daniel James on Friday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer a charge of sexually grooming a 15-year-old female relative.
The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him, and was

subsequently released on $200,000 bail.
The Prosecution’s contention is that, on at least two occasions between December 12, 2017 and January 18, 2018, James communicated with the teen via Whatsapp with intention to engage in sexual activity. The taxi driver allegedly knew that the child was underage, but still communicated with her.
It is further alleged that on January 18, James made arrangements to have sex with the teen, but the Police intervened and arrested James after being tipped off by relatives.
His case is scheduled for recall on April 16.
