Taxi driver gets bail for assaulting sister, daughter

A fifty-two-year-old taxi driver was on Friday released on $100,000 bail by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly on two counts of assault when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.3
Peter Thompson of D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, is accused of wounding Rita Howard with intent to disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm on April 30, 2018. In addition, he also allegedly assaulted Prisilla Thompson with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Thompson denied the allegations that were made out against him. Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh did not object for bail to be granted to the accused and as such, he was released on $40,000 and $60,000 bail respectively.
The matter was adjourned until June 15.
