Taxi driver granted bail for killing motorcyclist

Thirty-eight-year-old Vishram Singh, a taxi driver, was released on $300,000 bail when he appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday when he was slapped with a causing-death-by-dangerous-driving charge.
Singh, who hails from Somerset and Berks on the Essequibo Coast, had allegedly caused the death of Vikash Kevin Fredericks, 18, of Lot 18 New Road, Essequibo Coast, on December 26, 2021, at the New Road Public Road.
He was not required to plead to the charge, but soon after entered a not-guilty plea after the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied.
As such, he was granted bail and the case was adjourned to November 21.
Fredericks tragically lost his life while making his way home on a motorcycle after he was struck down by a car that was driven by Singh. He was at the time heading in a southern direction.
Reports are that residents heard the loud impact of the accident and rushed to the scene.
Fredericks was picked up in a bloody and unconscious state and rushed to the Oscar Joseph Hospital. He was then transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
