Home News Taxi driver hijacked by “passengers”
A man was relieved of his Toyota Allion motor car bearing registration number PZZ 3220 by three passengers at Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Saturday evening.
Based on reports received, Delroy Adonis, 33, of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara (WCD), who operates a private hire service, reportedly picked up a passenger from Vreed-en-Hoop who requested to be taken to Diamond, EBD.
On their way to the destination, the passenger requested for Adonis to pick up a male and female. Adonis reportedly complied but shortly after entering the car, the driver was held at gunpoint and ordered to stop and exit the vehicle.
Upon doing so, Adonis was relieved of his Samsung A20 smartphone and $15,000 in cash by the perpetrators who made good their escape with the motor car. The Police were subsequently contacted and due to their swift response; the motor car was found abandoned along Craig Public Road.
An investigation is underway.
