Taxi driver injured after car slams into fence

A taxi driver is now hospitalised after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into the fence of the Officers’ Training Centre at Camp Street and Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown on Sunday.
The injured man has been identified as 22-year-old Sherwin Dhanraj of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports received, on the day in question about 23:10h, the car was proceeding along Carifesta Avenue and on approaching Camp Street, the driver lost control and struck the concrete fence.
As a result of the crash, the driver sustained injuries about his body. He was pulled from the wreckage by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted to the male surgical ward. He reportedly suffered severe head injuries, but his condition is stable.
The Police are continuing their investigations.
