Home News Taxi driver robbed by armed passengers
A 34-year-old male taxi driver was on Monday evening robbed of his cellular phones and his car key by two male passengers at Festival City, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to information received, at about 22:00h on the day in question, the man was driving HD 336, a silver-grey Toyota Carina 212, along the Plaisance Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) when he was flagged by the two males. Upon stopping, the two men requested to be taken to a hotel at the exit of Festival City in North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
While in Festival City, the perpetrator who was seated in the front passenger’s seat whipped out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and relieved him of the phones and keys, with the assistance of his accomplice who was seated in the back passenger’s seat.
The two suspects then exited the car and made good their escape on foot. The matter was reported to the Police, but checks for the two men proved futile. A probe has been launched into the incident.
