An Albouystown, Georgetown taxi driver was on Monday evening robbed of his silver-grey Toyota Allion motor car bearing registration number HC 2675 by two men pretending to be customers.
The victim is Muhammad Edun, of James and Hogg Streets Albouystown. Based on information received about 21:55h, the 27-year-old man was sitting at the base of R&J Taxi Service in BB Eccles, East Bank Demerara – when one of the suspects entered his car and requested to be taken to Industrial Site, Eccles, EBD.
While on their journey, the suspect who was sitting in the back passenger seat reportedly pulled out a dark-coloured metal object, placed it to the right side of the victim’s face and instructed him not to move.
Shortly after, a silver grey Raum drove up alongside the taxi from which a man exited and entered the backseat of the taxi.
The taxi driver was ordered to drive for some distance, before being told to stop and exit the car. Upon doing so, he ran off into the nearby bushes to escape the hijackers. The two men then drove off with his car.
The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation was launched.
