Team Alanis/Attack Racing/Professional Keyshop 55-miler set for today

Guyana’s top cyclists will hit the roadways today (Sunday August 15) as contestants in the lucrative 55-mile cycle race that pedals off on the East Bank of Demerara and the Linden- Soesdyke Highway.

Sponsored by Attack Racing and the Professional Keyshop, this race is organised by Team Alanis Cycle Club (TACC), and is set to commence at 7:15hrs from before Banks DIH Thirst Park, then proceed to Yarrowkabra Police Outpost on the Soesdyke Linden Highway and return for the grand finish at Thirst Park.
The Masters over-50 riders and females will cover a distance of 40 miles.

First eight elite/senior riders as well as the top masters, females and juniors would each earn $15,000. The Masters/Veterans over-50 category is being sponsored by Mr. Shameer Baksh. Six sprint prizes will be up for grabs at $1,000 each.
Meanwhile, on August 29, another big cycling event is billed for the outer circuit of the National Park. That lucrative event is sponsored by Touche Kosmetics, and the winner of the open category would bag a cash prize of $60,000 riding 15 laps.
The Veterans under-50 and over-50 will ride for 10 laps and the winner will be rewarded with $40,000. Top female, junior and juvenile riders would each be rewarded with $40,000 in their 10-lap race. The action commences at 8:00h.
Registration for that August 29 race will be closed five days prior to the race, and the masters will have the option to choose which race they prefer to participate in on the day, whether the Open or Masters category. (Brandon Corlette)
