Team Mohamed’s biker sets new track record ahead of today’s ‘Clash of Champions’
– Mark Vieira leads Group 4 qualifier
Team Mohamed’s biker, James Westmoreland from the United Kingdom has set a new track record with a time of 1:15.798s during the race qualifier of the Super Stock/Super Sport Bikes on Saturday at the South Dakota Circuit. The previous record was held by race car driver, Mark Veira.
Also coming in second and third with the best lap time were Daniel Linfoot with 1:16.397s and Lee Jackson with 1:17.089s – both from Team Moahmed’s camp.
The trio was followed by Matthew Viera with a time of 1:18.385s; Dylan Singh with 1:20.571s; Stephen Viera with 1:23.320s and Heemand Boodram with a time of 1:25.080s.
For the Group 4 qualifier, Mark Viera had the best lap time of 1:16.596s followed by Franklyn Boodram with a time of 1:16.769s; Vishok Persaud with 1:17.006s and round off the top four is Mohan Rangasammy with a time of 1:19.450s.
In addition, leading the Super Street Bike qualifying is Kevin Persaud with 1:21s followed by Heeranand Boodram with 1:22.710s; Abdul Ali 1:22.787s and Allian Hopkinson with a time of 1:23.617s.
Scores of fans were on Saturday given a glimpse of what is in-store today. The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) is determined to commence the day’s activities at 11:00h with 15 races scheduled for the day.
Kicking off the Enet’s ‘Clash of Champions’ will be the Street/Super Stock/Super Sports rave at 11:00h. These will be followed by the Starlet Cup at 11:20h; Street Tuners/Sport Tuners at 11:40h; Group 2/Rookie at 12:00h; Group 3/Group 4/Unlimited at 12:20h; Street/Super Stock/Super Sport at 12:40 and Starlet Cup at 13:00h.
The action continues at 13:20h with Street/Tuners/Sport Tuners; Group 2/Rookie at 13:40h; Group 3/Group 4/Unlimited at 14:00h. Several other races are on the program before the final, which is the handicap scheduled to commence at 15:40h.
Apart from the Super Bike races all eyes will be on the Group 4 event where the big boys/girl come out to play. The Group 4 line-up includes Mark Vieira; Andrew King; Kevin Jeffrey; Vishok Persaud; Gavin Gayadin; Harold Hopkinson and Denzel Hopkinson from Guyana.
From Jamaica will be Doug Gore and Sara Misir while Mark Maloney and Tremaine Catwell will represent Barbados; Kristian Boodoosingh and Franklyn Boodram are in the Trinidad camp. Neil Persaud and Mohan Rangasammy are from Team CAMS.
