2018 GCB/CGI Jaguars One-Day League…

Following a thrilling third round of play on Monday, teams will be seeking to maintain their forms heading into today’s Jaguars Franchise League, which bowls its 4th round from 9:00h, weather permitting.
Senior cricket action continues across the country with Lower Corentyne battling the mighty Essequibo at Albion in Berbice, while red-hot defending champs Georgetown will be facing East Bank at the legendary Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground.
Over at the Everest Ground, the East Coast franchise will take on West Demerara

Amir Khan

at Everest, and West Berbice battles Upper Corentyne at Port Mourant.
After rounds one and two were washed out the previous week, Monday’s 3rd round witnessed East Coast, Lower Corentyne, Essequibo and Georgetown gaining victories.

East Coast vs East Bank at Enmore
Batting first, East Coast were kept to 152 all out in 46.1 overs, with only Kamesh Yadram making 33, and Amir Khan who top scored with 39 runs gaining himself the man-of-the-match title.
Bowling for East Bank, Ronaldo Alimohammed and Trevon France picked up 3 wickets each.
East Bank, in reply, fell for 127 in 39.5 overs, failing to chase a paltry total. Opener Trevon Griffith cracked 78, but was the only batsman to achieve double figures as the West Indies and Guyana pair of Bhaskar Yadram and Chandrapaul Hemraj grabbed 3 wickets each, while match MVP Khan and Gajanand Sukhanand chipped in with 2 apiece to cap an effective East Coast bowling outing.

West Berbice vs Lower Corentyne
Over at Albion ground, the star-studded Lower Corentyne won the toss and took

Kemol Savory

first strike in a reduced 36-over match, which was due to moisture on the pitch. They ended on 166-7. Opening batsmen Jason Sinclair and Junior Sinclair produced 30 and 32 runs respectively, while National U19 player Kevlon Anderson made 17.
Senior player and Man-of-the-match Jonathon Foo got his campaign off to a good start with a brisk 59 off 57 balls, as the classic bowling of the West Berbice attack was led by Guyana Jaguars’ pair of spinner Gudakesh Motie with 3-23 and pacer Keon Joseph 2-51.
West Berbice, in their chase, crumbled to 163 despite knocks from national youth players Kevin Sinclair 30, Javid Karim 22, and top-scorer Andrew Dutchin with 35.  Kassim Khan, Foo and Kelvin Umrao collected 3 wickets for 27, 32 and 29 respectively.

Upper Corentyne vs Georgetown
Defending champs Georgetown were guided home safely by the senior pair of MVP Chris Barnwell and Skipper Leon Johnson. Inserted to bat, the Berbicians made 177 all out in 42.2 overs in a reduced 44 overs match. Half-centuries from Alex Algoo and Clinton Pestano, who made 50 and 51 respectively, along with 35 from Joshua Ramsammy, highlighted the batting.
Bowling for Georgetown, Guyana Jaguars Franchise player and former Windies U19 captain Ramaal Lewis picked up 4-26 with his spin, as left-arm pacer Andre Stoll returned 2 wickets for 28. Windies U19 spinner Ashmead Nedd was also

Jonathan Foo

among the wickets with 2-31.
The pugnacious Barnwell bullied the opposition with 83, while the more elegant left-handed Johnson constructed 70 as the champs found their way home with relative ease.

West Demerara vs Essequibo
Over at the Lusignan ground, Essequibo won the toss and chose to bat, whipping up a massive total of 217 all out in 48.5 overs. Academy player Kemol Savory top-scored with a brilliant century, while pacer Ronsford Beaton made 29, Chetram Persaud 22, and Kevon Boodie 23.
Bowling for West Demerara, off-spinner Richie Looknauth snatched 3-39, Ewert Samuels 2-11, and Travis Persaud 2-50.
West Demerara, in reply, fell cheaply for 127 in 38.5 overs, with former World Cup-winning wicket-keeper/batsman Tevin Imlach hitting a top-score of 37.
Bowling for Essequibo, the spinners Anthony Adams and Ricardo Adams snared 3 each, while the younger of the Adams brothers, Akenie, with 2-9, starred in a classy effort. (Clifton Ross)
