Home Sports Teams to push for place in quarter-finals
GSL/Golyn 10/10 Softball…
The Golyn 10/10 softball cricket tournament organised by the Guyana Softball League and sponsored by Golyn and Sons, Trophy Stall, and Miss Love Trading (West Coast) continues today with several matches on the West Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara and Linden.
At the Leonora ground, Speedboat will play Rydem Star. Unbeaten Speedboat are on a roll having played unbeaten since November in 10/10 tournaments and will be looking to continue in this vein.
Rydem Star has strengthened their side by including Aftab Bacchus and will hope that will help them to straighten the weakness that have seen them lose on a couple of occasions.
Ruimzeight XI will come up against Unstoppable XI. Unbeaten Ruimzeight XI have a tight unit and will look to keep that record intact. Their batting hinges on Duhkraj Singh, who is in the form of his life and can create problems for the opposition.
Unstoppable XI have been just that as the name suggests lately and have shown the talent they possess but will have to work a little harder in order to come out on top.
Superbet XI will then clash with Exclusive XI. Both teams have been playing below par and this match can raise their confidence and display the talent they have in the camps.
They both are equal in both batting and bowling, but it is the fielding that can pull the teams together and they both can change the tempo and support their bowlers better.
West Coast Blazers will battle Crossbreed Warriors. Crossbreed Warriors are the favourites, but as blazers have shown they can surprise any team on their day.
They have been losing some very close encounters and will be hoping to put that right this time around.
In the final match, Prem XI will play Vipers XI. Prem XI are on winning streak as their batting and bowling as well as the fielding has been on top of late and are one of the few teams to have lost only once.
Vipers XI having just dismantled Power XI will be looking to close the mouths of their opponents as the taunts from both teams have continued.
The fixtures for East Bank and linden will be determined today as all the teams are asked to make themselves available at Diamond and Bayroc centre.
The one ball “man-to” also continues with several trophies up for grab and the winners will move on to the next round.
