A car thief was further remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday.
A tearful Michael Baptiste, 33, of 66 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, is facing the charge which stated that on August 5, 2016 at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, he, along with another, stole one Toyota Premio motorcar and transmission parts; property of Mahendra Ramcharran.
His Attorney made another unsuccessful bail application.
The prosecution again objected to bail based on the nature of the offence and the fact that the total cost of the items exceeded $5 million.
It was also noted that the defendant will be afforded a speedy trial.
The matter was set down for November 1. The co-accused, Alvin Narine, 41, also of 66 Station Street, Kitty, was granted bail.
