A teasing incident among a group of young men in the early hours of Monday has led to the stabbing death of a 15-year-old along Robb Street, Georgetown, in the vicinity of the Red Dragon Night Club. The deceased teen has been identified as Andel Martin, of Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WCD).
Based on reports received, at about 1:00h on the day in question, Martin was in the company of four of his teenage friends near Teleperformance, Robb Street, when they started teasing the suspect, who was at the time sitting in front of the establishment.

In retaliation, the suspect, armed with a cutlass, chased off the boys in an attempt to scare them away. But they reportedly returned and continued to tease the suspect. This time, the suspect became annoyed and attacked them with the aforementioned cutlass, during which he caught Martin while his friends fled the scene, leaving him behind. At that moment, the suspect pulled out a knife from his waistband and dealt the now-deceased one stab to his chest. In an attempt to escape the attack, Martin ran a short distance but collapsed in the middle of the road near the Red Dragon Night Club.
The suspect then fled the scene. The matter was reported, and a group of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived at the scene to find the teen lying motionless in a pool of blood. At the time, he was clad in a white- collared jersey and a pair of blue long pants, and he was barefoot. He was nevertheless pronounced dead at the scene. A stab wound was found on the left side of his chest below his heart. A cutlass was also discovered at the scene.
Police confirmed that the entire incident was captured on camera via the CCTV cameras from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Command Centre.
The video showed that after the incident, the suspect, with a knife in his hand, boarded a route 32 minibus, which was later intercepted on Schoonard Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD). There, the suspect, a 23-year-old from South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, has been arrested and taken to the Parfait Harmonie Police Station, where he was placed in custody. Checks are currently being made for the four other boys who were with the deceased at the time of the stabbing incident.
