Teen arrested after robbing friend’s brother

A 19-year-old suspect was arrested after he reportedly carried out a robbery on a patron at a popular bar at Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, on Monday evening.
Manhar Ramratty was reportedly robbed of $172,000 in cash, one black backpack containing one GBTI bank card, one National Identification card and one COVID-19 vaccination card.
Police stated that the victim was at the bar consuming alcohol but he reportedly took off his backpack and rested it on a nearby stool. The victim subsequently saw his brother passing and invited him to take a drink with him.
However, the suspect entered the bar and was talking to the victim’s brother who bought him a bottle of beverage after which he picked up the victim’s bag and left with it.
A Police report was made and the suspect was contacted and his home searched during which the backpack containing the victim’s documents was found in his living room. The money was not in the bag.
The suspect was arrested as investigations continue.
