Teen arrested for allegedly robbing Linden woman

A 19-year-old is now in custody after she allegedly robbed a woman of Woodpecker Lane, Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), as she was making her way home from work.
The woman was reportedly robbed of a mobile phone on Thursday last at about 19:00h at Woodpecker Lane, Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
The victim told Police that she was heading home with a child when she saw two men, one of whom she knew, walking past her.
Shortly after, one of the men approached her from behind and began choking her, as his accomplice relieved her of the phone. The two suspects then made good their escape on foot.
The matter was later reported to the Police, and a 19-year-old teen of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was arrested. He reportedly admitted to the crime and would have provided information to the Police about his accomplice.
Just about a month ago, an 18-year-old boy was relieved of his mobile phone by two armed men at Fox Hill Foot, Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.
A friend of the victim was also injured during the ordeal. It was reported that the teenager of Valley, Wismar, Linden, was sitting at the corner of Fox Hill Foot with his friend when the two gunmen approached them and instructed them to remain silent.
The young man was reportedly relieved of his ZTE Android cellular phone. Upon seeing this, the young man’s friend threw his phone into a neighbour’s yard which he retrieved after the men left. The bandits made good their escape on foot, and the matter was subsequently reported to the Police.
