Teen charged for robbery under arms

An 18-year-old mason of Lot 55 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, was taken before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday after he was charged with two counts of robbery.
Deshaun Welcome appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Fabayo Azore and denied the charges after they were read to him. The first charge stated that on October 27, 2018 at Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with an offensive weapon – a knife, he robbed Ishna Narine of one Samsung cellular phone value $90,000 and $20,000 cash.
The other charge stated that Welcome on the same date at the same location robbed Keron Persaud of one Samsung cellular phone valued $190,000 and $90,000 cash.
The Police Prosecutor objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the charges.
However, Magistrate Azore granted the teen his pre-trial liberty in the sum of $50,000 for each charge. He is expected to make his next court appearance on November 28, 2018.
