Two men were separately taken before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged for stealing cellphones.
Both denied the charges read to them at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Barton Scotland, 30, of Lot 45, Alexander Village, Georgetown, denied that he on June 11, 2017, in Georgetown, stole one cellphone valued ,000 from Keisha Profitte.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne told the court that on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant (VC) left her phone on her bed and later returned to find it missing. A report was made and the phone was found in the defendant’s possession which led to his arrest.
She told the court that Scotland admitted to carrying out the act. However, his Attorney said that his client is denying that he stole the phone.
Bail was granted at $15,000. The case will continue on June 28.
Meanwhile, Terrence Lindo, 18, of Lot 3 Hadfield Street, Georgetown denied stealing one LG smartphone from Nicosie Clarke on June 7, 2017, at Hadfield Street.
The contract worker told the court that he did not remove the cellphone. He was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 and will return to court on today.
