Home News Teen charged for wounding Policeman
Nineteen-year-old Jobe Caesar of Lot 58 Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown was on Friday arraigned before Magistrate Leron Daly on a charge of unlawfully wounding a Police Corporal on September 3 in the vicinity of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The teenage footballer denied that he unlawfully wounded the corporal, but reports are that at about 15:30h on September 3, the virtual complainant went to his child mother’s residence and allegedly found her in a compromising position with Caesar.
An argument erupted between the two men; and during the resultant fight, the teen allegedly wrestled a firearm from the corporal’s hand and used it to discharge several rounds at the cop.
It was further alleged that, after the ordeal, the Policeman visited the East Ruimveldt Outpost and reported the matter, and was placed under close arrest. The firearm was subsequently handed over to the Police.
The prosecutor is further contending that the defendant has, on several occasions, threatened to harm the cop.
Caesar has been placed on $40,000 bail, and is expected to return to court on October 1.
