Teen critical after Ituni trail accident

A 15-year-old Kuru Kururu, Linden-Soesdyke Highway resident is now battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after the vehicle in which he was travelling collided with a lumber truck.
Injured is Randy James. Reports are James was seated in the left front seat of vehicle GSS 6179 with trailer TXX 8434.
Guyana Times understands that James, and 19-year-old Danieram Persaud of Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD), who was driving the vehicle, were proceeding east along the Ituni trail when they stopped to inspect the lorry.
Persaud had reportedly parked the vehicle and exited to do the inspection when suddenly the vehicle began moving forward.
The vehicle ended up striking another lorry carrying lumber which was parked some distance ahead.
As a result of the accident, a log from the second vehicle struck James to his right side causing him to sustain injuries to his right shoulder and rib cage.
He was picked up and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was treated and transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital. The Police have since launched an investigation.
