Teen escapes jail time

– fined for drug possession

A Charlestown teen was on Wednesday fined $3000 after he pleaded guilty to a possession of four grams of cannabis.
Trevon Jones, 19, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Georgetown Magistratess Courts. It was stated that on April 19, while at Georgetown, he had four grams of cannabis in his possession.
In plea of mitigation, Attorney Mark Waldron told the court that his client received the drugs from his friend and he only used it as an experiment.
Waldron pleaded with Magistrate Moore to take into consideration the fact that his client admitted to the charge and he in no way resorted to wasting neither his nor the court’s time.
Jones was ordered to pay a fine of $3000 for the offence.
