Teen jailed in absentia caught by Police

A 19-year-old teen,’ who was sentenced to three years imprisonment for possession of narcotics, is now in Police custody.
Selvin Nurse, 19, of Supenaam, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was caught with 2003 grams of cannabis on November 11, 2015. He was released on bail but never returned to court. The teen was found guilty of the offence and was sentenced in absentia to three years’ imprisonment and also fined $3,004,500. Nurse was apprehended by ranks of 70km Police Outpost, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), during a routine patrol, and was escorted to Bartica Police Station. He will be taken directly to prison. (G9)
