Teen killed after crashing speeding car into concrete fence
A teenager is one of Guyana’s latest road fatality. He lost his life after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed it into a concrete fence at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Thursday morning.
Dead: Prakash Salvador, called “Bolo”
Dead is 18-year-old Prakash Salvador, also called ‘Bolo’, of Section C, Block Y, Golden Grove, EBD.
Based on reports received, the accident occurred at about 8:00h during a heavy downpour. Police have said that the teenager was driving motorcar PAB 8239 along the Diamond Public Road at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) fence.
As a result of the collision, the teenager sustained injuries and was unconscious. Pulled from the wreckage by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, Salvador died while receiving medical attention.
His body has been taken to Carmen’s Funeral Home to await a post mortem. An investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
The Police are reminding motorists to exercise extreme caution, care, courtesy, consideration and common sense especially during the rainy season, when the roadways are wet and slippery.
